Five Random Facts about Christmas in My House:

1)  I love Christmas! I grew up somewhat on the lower-income side of the American economy, but Christmas was absolutely my favorite time of year. While I didn't get all the things some of my friends got, I still remember feeling so blessed.

2) My children really don't know what it is like to do without, but we do try hard to limit the amount we spend on them. I'm not great at sticking to that soft rule, but I do make an honest effort each year. I just keep finding that ONE MORE GIFT that would be perfect for them.

3) Ever since I can remember, I get terribly depressed on Christmas Day after the presents are opened.  I want to do it over and over again. I just love watching my family open their presents because I have spent so much time finding them JUST the right gift.

4)  For all the bad in the world, Christmas and Christ remind us that there is a lot of good in the world. I cling to that hope well beyond the holiday season.

5) Just when I get sad thinking about how my youngest will soon grow out of some of the magic that is Christmas, I remember how blessed I am that I have two grandchildren (my oldest daughter is due in May 2014)  coming up that will keep ALL of us enjoying the beauty of the season for years to come!
